Chosen Sisters - Happy Birthday Sarah!!

She may not be the one I do it all for (that’s the kiddos of course), but she is the one who helps get it all done.
Through the years, from our Grand Opening and then the opening of Paxton’s in 2024, Sarah has been by my side through almost all of it. While she comes and goes on new adventures every few years, one things stays steady… she will always be ON my side.
With five sisters it’s not often we have someone come along that can infiltrate our family dynamic, handle it all, and become as close as my sisters and I are. Maybe it takes one to know one, with Sarah being one of three extremely close sisters herself, but whatever it is, Sarah became my chosen sister years ago and has stuck with me through it all.
I think if you are from a big family, and a very close one at that, you’ll know that while you can easily make friends, having siblings and parents that are your closest can sometimes make it hard to really dedicate yourself outside that unit. I know for my family we argue and fight like any other, but we also are each other’s closest friends. We call each other before someone outside of our childhood household, we ask for style advice, share our online hacks and finds, and more. But when you have that chosen sister, that friend for life that hasn’t seen it all but can handle it all, there is something so comforting in them. We can talk the family drama without sides being taken and we are just removed enough to always be each others ride or die versus another siblings! IYKYK.
Sarah and I first became roommates through family friends. Both in retail. Both busy in our 20s. Fast forward over a decade and we are both living vicariously through each other. Sarah has a city apartment and a boyfriend she adores. I have two beautiful children and a partner that she calls family. My littles spend more time with Auntie Sarah than their blood relatives some months and we are so thankful for just another person who loves them so much.
We’ve raised babies, dogs, and men together these past few years. We’ve grown Six Sisters together with constant market trips and marketing plans. We’ve worked to learn the ins and outs of men’s retail to put Paxton’s on the map. So much of what you don’t see is the chosen sisterhood and friendship that keeps this show running day in and out. Sarah is the analytical, list making, date entering manager we all need. I’m the dreamer and social butterfly.
As we raise a glass to Sarah’s upcoming birthday and another year together, I know she is building a new brand with her life partner, exploring more entrepreneurship and letting her passions guide her. We may see less of each other as life ebbs and flows, or we may stick tight for another year ahead steering this ship together. May this year be full of adventures in life, love and business. May everyone find their chosen family. May there be enough wine for our men to handle our crazy antics. And a few more trips together in between.
